The first ICMEC competition attracted more than 40 chamber music ensembles from the most prestigious musical institutions, such as The Juilliard School of Music, The New England Conservatory, Phillips Academy of Andover, The Longy School of Music, The Walnut Hill School of Art, The Moscow Conservatory, The Boston Conservatory and many others.
Eleven First Prize Winners competed for the Grand Prize on May 30, 2005 at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Two ensembles, the Clarion Piano Trio from The Juilliard School of Music and the Midday Jazz Quartet of the The New England Conservatory were declared the grand prize winners. Both of these ensembles performed in the grand prize winners concert at the Chamber Music Festival of New England Concert Series on November 6, 2005.
Clarion Piano Trio, consisting of Kevin Loucks, piano, Marta Krechkovsky, violin and Michael Nicolas, violoncello performed Dmitry Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor Op. 67 and Felix Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No.1 in D minor Op. 49 the first half of the concert.
