2010 INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLE COMPETITION

Gold Medal: Borusan String Quartet

Esen Kivrak, violin 

Olgu Kizilay, violin

Efdal Altun, viola  

Cag Ercag, cello

gave an astounding performance in the final round of the 2010 International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall performing String Quartet Opus 29 by Turkish composer Fazil Say. 


Silver medal: 

Duo Hessed 


Bronze Medal: 

Aeolus  Quartet was the Bronze Medal Winner. 


Special Mention: 

The Volta Trio and Arneis Quartet received a Special Mention Award from the 2010 ICMEC Jury Panel. 

 

The following chamber music ensembles finalists competed for gold, silver and bronze medals on May 31, 2010:

Gabot - Kim Duo
Calliope Trio
Duo Hessed
Volta Trio
Arneis Quartet
Borusan Quartet
Weird People
Menergy Quartet


The competition attracted 87 chamber music ensembles from world famous music schools and institutions, such as the Juilliard School of Music, New England Conservatory, Walnut Hill School, The Curtis Institute of Music, Boston Conservatory, Boston University, Eastman School of Music, Hartt School of Music and many others. The competition semi-final round was held in Boston in May of this year where contestants from more than 20 states and 7 countries were competing for the opportunity to take part in the final competition round in Carnegie Weill Recital Hall.
